20 Serious candidates
PA Wellington The McGillicuddy Serious Party is putting up 20 candidates . at next month’s General Election, contesting seats from Auckland and Coromandel to Marlborough and Christchurch, its Wellington Central candidate says.
The party says all other parties are silly, and it has put out a serious manifesto to entice voters. Its policy on education is that ignorance is bliss, and its welfare policy follows the same line — if people do not realise how poor they are, there will be no poverty problem. The Wellington Central candidate, Mr Mark Servian, said yesterday his first action, if elected, would be to demolish most of central Wellington and return it to the sea, using the hot air of the Beehive as a vacuum cleaner to suck up the debris.
“The great leap backwards is our aim, attd our catch-cry,” he said?'
