Jaffer quits tour

Pakistan’s left-arm fast bowler, Saleem Jaffer, flew home yesterday after giving up in his battle against a groin injury Jaffer, highly rated by his captain, Imran Khan, went to England in April with a worrying groin injury and aggravated it badly in the first net practice at Lord’s. He was able to play only against Ireland and: the Combined Universities, and sent down only a handful of overs.
He underwent surgery two weeks ago but it was decided he would not be fully fit for the remainder of the tour.
Pakistan’s manager, Hasib Ahsan, said: “I am pleased with his progress but the only cure now Is rest.
