Access at Ferrymead
A little-known activity at Ferrymead Historic Park moves into high gear this week with preparation for the park’s fourth Access programme — retail shop assistant training. The park’s director, Mr Robin Sutton, said the park should attempt to make returns to the community in as many ways as practicable, since so many of its physical assets were created with public funds.
“Hence the policy of running Access programmes using facilities left vacant with the conclusion of Government job-creation schemes," he said. The first group of trainees in the retail shop assistant scheme will start on August 10. It will run alongside two photographic training programmes and a pre-ap-prenticeship electrical trades training programme.
