Christchurch eliminated
Christchurch was eliminated from the English Cup at English Park last evening when it lost, 2-3, to New Brighton in extra-time. The match was a quarterfinal and Christchurch paid the price for playing only five of its regular squad. Paul Nichols scored first to put Christchurch ahead in the first half but Andrew Eastgate equalised from a penalty before half-time. Eigfgate scored bis second penaKy when Gary Lund
handled a ball in the goalmouth but Brent Berry scored the equaliser near the end of ordinary time with a fierce drive from outside the penalty area. Andy Daffin scored the winning goal 10 minutes into the first of two 15 minute spells of extra-time and although under considerable pressure in the final 20 minutes, the New Brighton defend held the ChriMchurclrstrikers at bay.
