Bread cost down
A saving of $3.56 was shown in the cost of “The Press” shopping basket this month. Bread was the main contributor to the price decrease at 24c a loaf less. .Beef sausages, frozen peas and toilet soap were
also cheaper than last month. Because meat is sold by auction, there are often variations in its price. Stewing steak was 40c dearer, and lamb leg chops suffered a price increase of 59c.
