A.I.D.S. Awareness Week in Sept
PA Wellington A national A.I.D.S. Awareness Week will be held from September 19 to 26, said the Minister of Health, Dr Bassett, yesterday. The programme for the Awareness Week, developed by a Health Department working party, will include community activi- , ties and a news media campaign, with television programmes and advertisements, Dr Bassett said.
Information will be provided on the nature of A.1.D.5., risky behaviour, social attitudes, experiences of managing the disease, and the personal
impact of the disease on people affected, their friends and family. The working party included representatives of the Health and Education departments, the Pharmacy Guild, the Aids Foundation, the Medical Association, the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Broadcasting Corporation, he said. Dr Bassett left for Australia at the week-end to represent New Zealand at an A.I.D.S. summit in Sydney.
Called by the World Health Organisation, the Ministerial meeting will be attended by representatives of 32 countries from Asia and the Pacific.
