Fund-raising ‘hard’ for volunteer groups

Fund-raising is proving difficult for many voluntary organisations in Christchurch, says the Christchurch Marriage Guidance Council’s new co-director, Ms Kay Brosnan. “A lot of voluntary organisations are really feeling the squeeze at the moment,” she said. But at present the council could provide only “bread and butter” courses because they needed more tutors. Tutors, who were trained over two yeas, volunteered their time. Often the council lost the tutors to paid employment after they finished their training. Ms Brosnan said.
