Wanganui coach pessimistic
PA Auckland Wanganui’s coach, Ken George, said yesterday that his team was too small, light and inexperienced to present a formidable challenge in the Ranfurly Shield rugby game against Auckland at Eden Park today. Mr George made it clear, however, that Wanganui would “give Auckland a go” and said he would be happy if his
players came off the field satisfied that they had played as well as they could. Auckland’s coach, Maurice Trapp, has decided to rest the star All Black flanker, Michael Jones, who has bruised ribs. Jones, originally named in the reserves, has been replaced by the lock, Mata’afa Keenan. Marty Brooke, a lock, will now cover for an injury in the loose forwards.
