The salary for this position will be up to $28,253 per annum although an exceptional candidate may be appointed at $29,412 per annum. The Department has recently taken delivery of a cluster of three high performance Micro VAX computers which are networked to a range of other systems including the DEC Baseway Shopfloor Management Software. The Manager will be responsible for the establishment and operation of the hardware and software support systems. Applicants should have an appropriate degree or other acceptable qualification in Technology, Engineering or Science, and possess additional adequate experience in the design, operation and programming of microcomputer or minicomputer systems. Experience with high performance microprocessor systems such as the Digital Equipment Corporation Micro VAX range and their software support systems would be an added advantage. Experience in industrial electronics will also be favourably considered. Research and teaching interests in the Department include: engineering, robotics, process control, automation, electronic image processing, and energy engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to provide technical and software support in some or all of these areas.
