Kick-boxers on target
Knockouts ended three of the four title bouts at the first South Island kick-boxing championships in the Hornby rugby league rooms. An enthusiastic crowd of about 500 spectators revelled in the action provided by exponents of this relatively new sport. Jamie Moore kept the interest simmering with a firstround knock-out; Dion Moir claimed the middleweight title by the short route In the second round; and Geoff Aitken confirmed his standing in the sport by claiming the heavyweight championship in the fifth. The fights were held under the auspices of the AustraliaNew Zealand section of the World Kick-Boxing Association. Abbreviations used in the results are:— 0. T., Okinawa Te; R.K., Redwood Kempo; Chch Z.D.K., Christchurch Zen Do Kai; Dn Z.D.K., Dunedin Zen
