Teresa’s grandfather thanks N.Z.
PA Napier “Thank you, New Zealand, for your support,” was the message from Mr Roger Pigott, grandfather of the dead Napier schoolgirl, Teresa Cormack.
Mr Pigott said the family had received more than 1000 messages from throughout New Zealand — and some from Australia. “We wish we could reply to each one of these personally, but there are so many that it is impossible. But please be assured that these letters and messages have given Teresa’s parents, Kelly and Ross, support; and have shown us that although there is a bad element in our society, they are far outweighed by the generous and caring people,” Mr Pigott said. Mr Pigott said the family had been overwhelmed by the gen-
erosity of Napier people — both friends of the family and others n«t known to the family.
“We have had complete strangers arriving with meals and boxes of groceries. The support we have had has been quite remarkable,” fee said.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to friends and neighbours and others for their help and sup* port Our sincere thanks, too, to staff, pupils and parents of Richmond School, Neighbourhood Watch groups and all private citizens who gave up their time to search for Teresa.
“We also wish to thank the Maori Wardens’ Association for their invaluable presence and special thanks to the police for the long hours an<f hard work they have put in,” Mr Pigott said.
