Kaimai no longer safe
PA Tauranga Kaimai could no longer be considered a safe National Party seat, said the Labour candidate for the electorate, Mr Henry Uttinger. Mr Uttinger, aged 64, has been selected. “While we may not necessarily win the seat, the National Party has got to have the jitters,” he said. Voting figures based on the new electoral boundaries gave the previous member of Parliament, Mr Bruce Townshend, a majority of 3700 above a New Zealand Party vote of 5500 and a Labour poll of 5300. “The feedback I’m getting from the New Zealand Party is that they are voting for Rogernomics,” Mr Uttinger said.
