Curren fined
NZPA-Reuter London Kevin Curren, a former Wimbledon finalist, was fined $5OO on Saturday for throwing the first tantrum of this year’s championships. Curren, who lost to Boris Becker in the 1985 final, called an umpire an “idiot” during his
second round match with Johan Kriek, born, like Curren, in South Africa and who has also adopted American citizenship. The umpire, Paulo Pereira, provoked the sixteenth seed’s outburst when he over ruled a line call. Kriek went on to win the match. <
