Anti-tower committee plans rally
A balloon might be flown to the height of the proposed tower in Victoria Square as part of a planned rally against the tower.
The Save Victoria Square Committee will hold a lunch-time public rally in the square in July as part of its campaign against the proposed siting of the tower.
The chairman of the committee, Mr Alex Clark, said that the area which the tower’s base would occupy would also be marked out to help people judge its impact. Several speakers would be organised for the rally but anyone who wanted to speak would be welcome to do so, said Mr Clark. Other activities were planned by the committee.
“We recognise it is going to be a long fight so we are not putting all our effort into the one activity,” said Mr Clark.
