Town sweeps to lead
The Town senior B rugby team beat Hurunui, 33-21, at Hawarden yesterday in an entertaining match. Both teams tried to spin the ball although Town was a little more polished, the Hurunui team making mistakes in its first game of the season.
Town swept to a substantial lead after 20 minutes, but Hurunui fought back with two tries to trail, 21-8, at the break. Hurunui dictated play early in the second half and pulled back to 21-17, only for Town to ease away with two tries late in the game. Scorers.— Town 33 (C.
Commans, C. Ogle (3), D. McCrae, B. Healey tries; M. Wetherall a penalty and two conversions) beat Hurunui 21 (B. Black (2), M. Hoban, S. Loe tries; P. Fitzpatrick a penalty and conversion).
