Business leaders support Howard
NZPA-Reuter Sydney The Opposition leader, John Howard, received support yesterday from Australian business leaders for his plans to curb trade union power if he wins next month’s General Election. Mr Howard has consistently attacked the Labour Party’s trade union links and his tough industrial relations proposals have put the Prime Minister, Bob Hawke, under pressure for the first time in the campaign, political analysts said.
Mr Howard told the country’s 10.5 million voters that if elected on July 11 he would crack down on trade union power.
