The Association is being established to preserve and foster effective and efficient Local Government In New Zealand and will assume the existing roles of the Counties and Municipal Associations of New Zealand. The Chief Executive will be responsible to the Executive of the Association for ensuring the optimum achievement of the objects and functions of the Association. The position will be a challenging one calling for considerable initiative, strong organisation ability with a high level of management, administrative, leadership and public relations skills. A competitive remuneration package appropriate for the position will be negotiated with the successful applicant and will depend upon qualifications, experience and ability. The Director will be responsible for the development. and upgrading of coaches and coaching of track and field, cross country and road running throughout New Zealand. The Director will be employed by the N.Z.A.A.A. and will work closely with the Association’s subcommittees and also with the New Zealand Athletic Coaches Association in the course of his/her duties. Applicants must have training and practical experience in athletics coaching, and also show they have administrative abilities. The appointee will be based in Wellington. The salary to be paid will reflect the abilities of the appointee and will be in accordance with the Teachers College Scale of up to a maximum of $36,607 per annum.
