Accounting Systems Manager Decentralised System Wang minis/Facom mainframe Telecom Corporation of New Zealand Limited was established on 1 April from the telecommunications arm of the New Zealand Post Office. Through its twelve district operations the Corporation is engaged in providing a wide and increasingly sophisticated range of telecommunications services to business and private users. This new position within the Finance Division of the Corporation (located in the Wellington Head Office and reporting to the General Manager Finance) will nave a supervisory and facilitating role in respect of all accounting systems development and implementation. While the general ledger is currently a Facom mainframe system a number of subsidiary Wang mini systems exist. The future direction of accounting systems will be reviewed shortly, and the appointee would be expected to participate and contribute strongly in this process. , . . ’ Particular functions of the Accounting Systems Manager will include the preparation of user requirements and system specifications, selecting software and advising on hardware, the analysis of existing systems and designing improvements, supervising in-house programming, coordination with the central MIS team and the Computer Services Division of the Corporation. . . Applicants should have significant experience of computerised accounting systems, preferably in a large organisation. They should have worked with both mini and mainframe environments. Personal qualities sought include the ability to successfully manage project teams ana to work effectively with others at all organisational .levels, initiative and strong personal motivation, well developed analytical and communication skills. . . ..i.
