Martial law may end
NZPA-Reuter Taipei Taiwan took a step towards ending 38 years of martial law when its Parliament approved controversial national security legislation. All 12 Opposition members staged a sit-in on the assembly floor to protest against the passage of the 10-article legislation, which they say is martial rule in another guise.
