New jobs service
Advertising a ; job vacancy throughout New Zealand is now just a telephone call away, thanks to a new service introduced by the Labour Department. A call by an employer is now all that is needed to activate a computer which records J . the vacancy and matches the
job to a list of job-seekers. The computer can also display the vacancy on its job service boards in 50 centres throughout New Zealand. The Labour Department also offers incentive wage subsidies which increase with the amount of time the applicant is jobless, from $lOO a week to $l5O.
