The day in Parliament
PA Wellington Parliament resumed at 9 a;m. yesterday sitting under urgency. The Budget debate (Appropriation Bill No. 3) continued. Debate was interrupted when the House adjourned for lunch at 1 p.m.
When the House resumed at 2 p.m., the Speaker gave a ruling on the use of Hansard transcripts, before debate on the Appropriation Bill continued.
Debate was interrupted when the House adjourned for dinner at 6 p.m. Debate continued on an Opposition motion to defer a second reading of the Appropriation Bill until after the General Election, when the House resumed after dinner.
The amendment was defeated 43-27, and the Appropriation Bill was set down for a second reading.
Members then resumed debate on the committee stages of the State Enterprises Restructuring Bill. The debate was adjourned until 9 am. today when the House rose ,at midnight
