Fine victory for Tudor March
PA Hamilton The Cambridge gelding Tudor March, having his first start for five months, scored a fine victory in the South Auckland Racing Club Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Te Aroha Jockey Club’s meeting at Te Aroha yesterday. Ridden by Tauranga apprentice, Raewyn Whitt, Tudor March raced midfield then ranged up into contention turning for home.
He struggled with Sterling Revel for the length of the home straight, and just grabbed first prize by a nose. •
Third, a short head
away, was the favourite Rainbow Fair. Tudor March won his last race start at Avondale on January 10. Yesterday’s win was his fourth in six races. He has been unplaced only once. He is trained by Harley Young at Cambridge and raced by his breeder Mr Stuart Howe.
Shearkhan, ridden by Linda Ballantyne, won the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the Johnson Hardware Plate.
He raced handy to the pace before running away from his opposition in the straight The Te Awamutu-trained gelding has now won his last two races.
