Gymnast’s high hoop score
Katy Chapman achieved the highest score of the annual rhythmic gymnastic competition, 9.4 points, in the hoop exercise, at the Phoenix Rhythmic School of Christchurch tournament Chapman is one of eight members of the school who will compete in toe national trials at Auckland on June 13 and 14 from which the New Zealand team to contest the world championships in Bulgaria win be selected. Chapman and Julie Williamson, who easily won toe international grade, are
the individual trialists, and Rebecca Sue, Jaana Haaja, Nicky Morse, Trudy Haugh, Amanda Horgan and Zana Perry, will form toe international grade group. Kathryn Hughes, in her first competition since returning from a successful tour of Canada and toe United States in April, beat Chapman and Sue for toe A-grade title. Thirty-five girls from Canterbury and Marlborough took part in the competition. Results (Phoenix Rhythmic School unless noted):— International grade.— J.
