N.Z.F.P. in $13.65M upgrade

PA Wellington N.Z. Forest Products, Ltd, is to spend $13.65 million on a big upgrade of coating plant at the Whakatane Board Mill of its subsidiary, N.Z;F.P. Pulp and Paper, Ltd. . The company’s managing director, Mr Ross Glucina, said the upgrading Of•? coating equipment on the No ! ‘3-f paperboard machine at Whakatane would produce •’ coated boards of a standard comparable to the best in the world.

The best technology' available would be installed to make- the machine one of a few in the world capable of applying a triple coating to the top surface of paperboard, Mr Glucina said. Growing competition between brands of Consumer goods demanded top quality. in packaging materials, particularly in the area of graphics presentation. Mr Glucina said the Whakatane upgrading would result in better graphic presentation on packaged goods. Work would begin immediately and was. expected to take until late 1988.
