Canada’s morale high

Mobility among the forwards will be a key factor in Canada’s game against Ireland in today’s pool 2 rugby World Cup match at Carisbrook. Canada has made two changes from the team which resoundingly beat Tonga, 37-4, in Napier last Sunday. John Lecky will replace Paul Vaesen in the
centres and lock Ron Hindson will make his 28th international appearance in place of Ron van den Brink.
Captain Hans de Goede said the speed at which Canada’s back row — Glenn Ennis, Roy Radu and Rob Frame — get around the field will be an important part of his team’s chances of upsetting the Irish.
“We’ve had a look at Ireland and we’ve seen
they have a big back row and we wondered if they are going to be that mobile, so we have picked a team we hope will add to our mobility,*’ he said.
Victory for Canada will put it in the quarter finals, almost certainly against Australia.
Ireland has made three changes from the team beaten 13-6 by Wales in Wellington on Monday.
Veteran fly-half Tony Ward comes in for Paul Dean, and will share the goal-kicking duties with centre Michael Kiernan; flanker Paul Collins replaces Derek . McGrath and John McDonald comes in for Terry Kingston at hooker.
