$400 for a kiss
PA Wellington Raymond Esera Aukuso was fined $4OO for kissing a stranger on the street. He appeared before Judge Paterson in the District Court in Wellington and admitted assault on a female on January 20. Sergeant W. T. Jaques said a young woman in a shop during the lunch hour noticed Aukuso staring at her. She left the shop, but Aukuso followed her for some distance, grabbed her by the arm and pulled her into a doorway.
He asked her if she had a boyfriend and when she said no, he said “good.” He then kissed her on the lips and told her to meet him in the same place the next day.
He had “threatened her” that he was a boxer and told her she should be there.
Police had kept the tryst instead and found him waiting for the girl, Mr Jaques said. The girl, aged 17, had been frightened and intimidated by his actions.
Judge Patterson decided that Aukuso, aged 30, a workman, .of Wellington, should goodbye to $4OO for the incident.
