The appointment will be made in the Department of Sociology and Social Work for three years in the first instance, but it is expected that a permanent appointment will be made at the end of this action research initiative. Applicants should hold a qualification from a recognised centre of higher education and will be expected to work closely with the Department of Maori Studies at Victoria University to assist In the development of social work education and research. Fluency In the Maori language Is considered an essential qualification and recent experience of work In a social service agency would be an advantage. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate versatility In dealings with university students, community groups and professional people in a variety of settings. He or she should also have an Interest In developing learning methods which are consistent with educational approaches used In traditional Maori culture.
