The Greens (above) come under the critical eye of Flying Nun Records at the Old Star Tavern this week-end, when the band join two others on the bill.
The group’s bass guitarist, Andre van der Wende, said that the four-piece group had already been recording some songs on a friend’s eight-track, but they hoped to be able to go into a recording studio later.
The Greens hoped to have something released in a few months, and Flying Nun were coming to listen to the band to
see if they should be on that label. The Christchurch group has been going for about a year, although Andre and the guitarist, Bruce Intemann, have played together a few years before James Moore (guitar) and Tane (drums), completed the line-up. The Rue make their first appearance for a few months and join the Greens with another new band, Skin Darlings. • The Greens are, from left, Tane, Bruce Intemann, James Moore, and Andre van der Wende.
