A.I.D.S. drug available
PA Auckland Supplies of the new A.I.D.S. drug, Retrovir, are available for delivery. The first consignment of the drug arrived in Auckland last Friday and has been cleared by the Customs Department. The drug had since been relabelled and was now ready for any clinician who orders it, said Dr Philip Morton, of Wellcome N.Z., Ltd. The amount was enough to start treating about 10 patients. Treatment costs about $16,000 a year for each patient, a cost being met by the Government.
