P.S.A. support
Wellington reporter The Public Service Association has pledged support for the Government of Dr Bavadra, and is prepared to take part in trade embargoes. The acting president of the P.S.A., Mr Colin Feslier, said yesterday that the restoration of the Bavadra Government was the only acceptable solution to the problems in Fiji. “This is the call from Fijian trade unionists and it is fully supported by the
P.S.A.” The Fijian Labour Party, part of the coalition, was developed by the Fiji trade union movement and supported a range of pro-worker and peace policies, he said. Mr Feslier said that the Fijian P.S.A. had supplied many of the elected Government there, including Dr Bavadra himself. Any economic embargoes would be imposed only after a decision of the New Zealand P.S.A. members involved.
