Debbie’s Chance in form for Addington

Debbie’s Chance, the winner of three races and $12,605, looks set to carry on her winning way in the Stan Andrews Pace, one of the feature events at the Canterbury Park Club’s winter meeting at Addington Raceway tomorrow evening. Debbie’s Chance has not raced since May 2, when she beat Innocent Heather narrowly and the others easily in the Yvette Bromac Handicap at Addington. On that oaccasion she paced the 2000 m in the splendid time of 2min 36.525. She showed that she had trained on splendidly for her part-owner, Stan Moore, when she was given a run on a slushy track at the Rangiora workouts last Sunday. The speedy daughter of Jersey Hanover has an awkward second-line draw to overcome in this event, but that should not prove too great for her. Probably the hardest for her to beat in what is the middle leg of the T.A.B. treble will be the Robert Dunn-trained Itz Magic, which is fresh from a splendid if narrow victory over one mile at Race 6 D 8.20 CHATEAU REGENCY CANTERBURY PARK WINTER CUP $10,000; C 6; 3200 m 1 4400 Travel Warrant 1 .... Alexandra Park on May 9, when she returned 2min 3.15. Itz Magic has shown considerable speed in her four starts and looks to be above average in ability. Like others in the race, her performance could decide whether she contests the $20,000 Sapling Stakes at Ashburton on June 1. Canasta King and Innocent Heather will be two others in strong demand. Canasta King is racing most generously and last time out he finished fourth behind Tuapeka Knight and Starship at Addington. He will appreciate the drop in class in this field and should share in the split-up of the stake. . Innocent Heather, a former stablemate of Tuapeka Knight from Kevin Court’s team at Dunedin, has had four thirds and a close second to Debbie’s Chance from her last five starts, consistency which suggests she, too, will be right in the thick of the finish. Precious Wave, a disappointment at Washdyke last Saturday, Blue Steel, Diamond Fella and Mood Maker are others entitled to consideration, but they will find it difficult to match the two fillies, Debbie’s Chance and Itz Magic. 4 8830 Dream Lustre 4.J.
