N.Z. offer of $250,000 for mare
Two separate New Zealand buyers are negotiating to purchase the outstanding Victorian race mare, Hyperstat, from Mrs Leonie Holderhead, a niece of hte four-year-old’s trainer, Ron Peace. Peace said last week that the first person to come up with the $250,000 would buy her. “They can talk all they like,” Peace said, “but until they produce the money it’s only talk.” Hyperstat, a daughter of Entrepreneur and the great mare, Bind! Thor, had a sequence of 19 wins, a second, then another win before she was unplaced in the Ladyship Cup at Moonee Valley when her chances were ruined by a damaged sulky wheel. Earlier this year Hyperstat’s yearling halfbrother brought an Australian record price of $62,000 in Melbourne.
