Mormon choir oh N.Z. visit

The Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir will perform for the first time in New Zealand next year as part of a tour of New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii. -. The New Zealand Syinphony Orchestra is . sponsoring the five-concert New Zealand tour. The 325-voice ensemble will give two concerts in Auckland on June 20 and 21, two in Wellington on June 22, and one in Christchurch on June 23. The choir’s president, Mr 'Wendell Smoot, said the choir will present three different programmes in New Zealand and Australia. “They will be serious, lighter and patriotic programmes,” he said.

While in New Zealand the choir’s weekly television and radio broadcaste will originate via satellite from Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre and. be transmitted to audiences in the United States. The choir will appear in Australia as ah official cultural representative of the United States at the Australian ' Bicentennial Celebrations.
