Artists for Ballet
a Two stars of the Ballet ~de L’Opera in Paris are i-among a list of interartists to be ghosted by the Royal New Ballet this year. The company will have guest artists from China, ...France and Mexico, beginning with performances as part of a cultural programme 1 with France in August. “Vive la Danse” will star Claude de Vulpian and Laurent Hilaire as Tpart of the exchange. Three French choreoVgraphers will present balas part of the same “"'programme.
Janine Charrat, Eugene Polyakov and Andre Prokovsky will choreograph dance to the music of Maurice Ravel, Chevalier de Saint Georges and Albert Roussel respectively. Madame Charrat will also put on a work for the New Zealand School of Dance. Monsieur Polyakov will conduct classes for the company and the school. During September Guillermo Keys-Arenas, formerly of The Ballet Folklorico of Mexico and now living in Sydney, will be coaching the company
and dancers at the school. In October two members of the Shanghai Ballet from China will join the Royal New Zealand Ballet for a season of “The Nutcracker.” They are Wang Qi-feng and Zhong Min. .Miss Wang will dance the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Snow Queen, and Mr Zhong the roles of the Prince and Snow Queen Cavalier. The version to be performed was created by Patricia Rianne who has recently been in Beijing at the Central School of Ballet.
