Canterbury shared the natkma! provincial secaadnry schoolgirls hockey chsmpißa ship with Bay of Pteafy at Oamaru last week. The taaow drew the final. 2-2. It was the first time that a Canterbury team had played in the tournament This year it drew a record 22 entries from throughout New Zealand. Canterbury had one Mas at the tournament; to North Shore in pool play, 6-1. In its other pool matches it boat Central Otago, 6-0; Soathlnad. 6-0; and Horowhenua, 1-h. In a friendly game Canterbury beat RnngNtH. 114. Canterbury progreeaed to the play-offs on goal difference ahead of Manawatu, after North Shore loot to Horowhenua and drew, 04, with Central Otago. In the quarter-finals Canterbury beat South Canterbury, 1-0, and in the semifinals it met Nelson. The result was a l-l drew, and Canterbury progressed to the final after a remarkable penalty stroke shoot-out Canterbury won the competition, 2-1. The Canterbury goal-keeper stopped three of the Nelson strokes while two of the Canterbury strokes missed the goal, and the two successful strokes trickled past the Nelson goal-keeper. There were no strokes after the final to decide an outright winner. In a play-off for third and fourth, Neboa beat Malvern, 4-1. ...
