Stronach takes indoor bowls
Graham Stronach, of the Garden City club, won the Canterbury indoor bowls championship singles title at the Kearneys Road hall during the week-end. Stronach recently transferred from Wellington where he won an open and cham-pion-of-champions singles titles. He also held three titles in Otago, Including two singles. Stronach had good wins against Brant Miller (Garden City), Dave Swarbrick (Northcote) and Norm Morris (Riccarton W.M.C.) to reach the final, in which he beat
Dean Hunt (S.A.S.W.M.C.), 125. Hunt made a bright start, picking up two shots on the first end. However, he trailed 3-5 after five ends. Hunt held three close shots on the sixth end but Stronach drew shot with his last bowl. On the seventh end Hunt played Stronach’s closest bowl from the head to pick up a two. Stronach kept up the pressure and led, 10-5, after 10 ends. Hunt killed the eleventh and the last end was unplayed. The Ethel Logan trophy for
