Under-water hockey
Australia trounced Christchurch in several underwater hockey games at the Queen Elizabeth II pool last evening.
So many goals were scored against the home teams it was decided not to keep a count on the score.
The Australian team is in Christchurch on a training camp for 10 days before travelling to Wellington for a four-match test series against the New Zealand side.
gastralia men’s under
water hockey players were second in the world championships at Adelaide last year and their women counterparts won the title.
New Zealand men were third and the women’s team second at the same .championships. Australia has been playing local sides just to keep in practice for the test series. They play a full South Island team tomorrow with players travelling from Invercargill and Dunedin for the local side. .
