Bold effort from Shannon
Special correspondent . Palmerston North The, Woodville galloper, Shannon, starts off a fresh campaign at Foxton tomorrow and galloped boldly on his home track jhfcterday morning.
The grey is being set for a tilt at the Fourex Cup in Brisbane this winter. He is in need of tomorrow’s race in the NZ Insurance Handicap, but could go well frifch.
Fast work took place on the plough, which was in good order. Shannon and Tilbury Docks galloped 1000 m in 1:3.5, the last 600 m in 36.5 s with Shannon running keenly. Phareef and Nymphe
Noire, which could race at Te Rapa this week, galloped strongly over 1400 m in 1:28.5, the last 1200 m in 1:15.3. The other sections could not be timed in the 'early llfet.
