Pamir Prize presented
The Pamir Prize, a premier maritime award, was presented yesterday to an employee of the New Zealand Line, Mr David Hagen, of Upper Hutt. He was the highest-scoring candidate in examinations for the masters’ foreign-going certificate.
The Minister of Transport, Mr Prebble, presented him with a binocular engraved with details of the award, named after a Finnish-owned four-masted barque seized by New Zealand in 1941 and used by the Marine Division until being returned to her owners in 1948. ARRIVALS
