Camp attracts visiting fencers

Several overseas visitors will attend the second Waimairi Swords Club training camp at Christchurch Teachers College this weekend.

Taifuke Kaise (Japan), aged 21, Nisthith Mahanti (India), aged 22, Patrice Church (Canada), aged 18, and Paul Wilson (England),

aged 21, will train under a first-generation Hungarian fencer, Mr Robert Bain, aged 24. The camp will be open to South Island fencers. It will be particularly important for those to contest the Canterbury under-20 championships the next week-end. Those fencers will be look-

ing to impress selectors for the New Zealand squad to compete in the world youth championships next year. The coaching will focus on foil techniques, tactics, equipment maintenance and rules. Several video clips prepared by top French coaches will be played to demonstrate techniques.
