Afghanistan issue
The United States wants India to take a stronger stand in urging the Soviet Union to pull its troops out of Afghanistan, said the Secretary of State, George Shultz. "It would be a great boon to the subcontinent if Afghanistan was allowed to have a life of its own,” he said. He believed India could be influential with Moscow, on the issue.—Washington.
