Ferrymead burglary

A cottage at Ferrymead Historic Park was burgled only a week before an alarm was to be installed in the building. Silverware valued at $2OOO was taken from the Curragh Cottage on Friday night. Entry was gained through a window. The director of the park, Mr Robin Sutton, said a series of silent alarms and monitoring systems was to be installed at the park this week.

He said the Victorian silverware was not rare but was expensive to replace. “We are having a hard enough job keeping the park going without cretins doing something like this,” he said.
