Capital’s rates highest
PA Wellington The Wellington City Council’s announcement of a 24 per cent increase in residential rates makes Wellington’s rate rise the highest in the region so far, the “Evening Post” reports. Although several local bodies have yet to set their rates, Wellington’s
24 per cent increase is at least 8 per cent higher than any of the other rates that have been set. Porirua has the secondhighest rate rise at 16 per cent.
Lower Hutt’s residential rates are rising an average of 14 per cent, with Kapiti at 11 per cent and Petone at a regional low of 7 per cent.
