Precision engineering

At Rob Kennard Engines the staff take considerable pride in their reconditioning work. All the work is done in their own workshop using the latest equipment which is up to world standards. Only Repco parts are used. Staff members in the workshop are either fullyqualified tradesmen or apprentices. The foreman, Mr John Seyb, has had 20 years in the trade. Mr Kennard says that, at about a third of the price that is asked for a new engine, reconditioned

units represent very good value. He thinks that reconditioned engines can sometimes be even better than new engines because of the precision fitting and accurate clearance work that goes into reconditioning. “Sometimes new engines have to be machined,” he says. An exchange reconditioned engine is a superior product to an imported second-hand engine. The imported engine may fit the vehicle and look the same as the original unit, but internally it might be quite different.

“Consequently, the owner may have the car off the road for three months waiting for a simple part that is not readily available in New Zealand,” says Mr Kennard. Any engine can be reconditioned and engines can usually be reconditioned three times. “The new same-day exchange service offered by Rob Kennard Engines two important advantages: The Customers receive quality reconditioned engines and they do not need to be without their vehicles for more than a few hours,” says Mr Kennard.
