Fuel supplements marketed in N.Z.

Developed by an internationally recognised American chemist, Dr Morton Fainman, petrol and oil supplements claimed to increase fuel efficiency and prolong engine life are now being marketed in New Zealand.

Called Z-power, the product range is being marketed by the Australian arm of the franchise.

Petrol and oil supplements include upper cylinder lubricants that are said to neutralise the effects of acids and deposits which can be harmful in petrol engines.

The fuel supplement lubricates the upper cylinder area and valves and helps to keep clean carburettor jets, accelerator pump and float-valve assembly. It is also claimed to improve and stabilise fuel burn, reduce carbon build-up and eliminate run-on. Dr Fainman’s eightyear research programme began in 1976. In 1983, after tests involving 120 million litres of fuel, Zpower was claimed to be capable of reducing the friction co-efficient of internal combustion engines and reducing pollutants in exhaust emissions, as well as neutralising engine acids and assisting engines to achieve optimum performance over longer periods. The fuel supplements are from the ester chemical family, while the oil

supplement is an organic compound, namely a hydrocarbon oil. The product, which is not cheap, is described as a multi-purpose, organic liquid, readily soluble in aromatic and paraffinic fuels.
