Supply role
Australia has secured a dominant role as supplier of a new high-tech additive to the multi-billion dollar world glass industry through a new Perth-based comany, Lithium Australia, Ltd. Lithium Australia, a spin-off of Greenbushes, Ltd, has found a market niche for the sale of glass grade spodumene, which, when added to glass in the manufacturing process, results in energy savings by lowering the melting point, while improving the strength and appearance of the product.
