Nutrition book launched

Wellington reporter A book on healthy nutrition has been launched by the Minister of Health, Dr Basset, in Parliament. It is called “Are We Really What We Eat?” and was published by the Dairy Advisory Bureau of the Dairy Board.

The book reviews evidence in some detail about what is or is not healthy food and casts doubt on some of the evidence while endorsing other aspects. Dr Bassett said the importance of diet on the maintenance of health and the prevention of

disease was still not fully appreciated, either by the public or many health professionals. The success of the lowfat milk option “Trim Milk” by the Milk Board was an example of how food suppliers were meeting growing consumer demand for healthier food.
