DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION NEW ZEALAND - WESTERN SAMOA FORESTRY ADVISOR (Mechanical Services) Applications are invited for the above position which will be funded under New Zealand's Programme of Official Development Assistance. The position is for up to 2 years, located at the Forestry Division of the Department of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries in Apia, Western Samoa. The successful applicant will be required to take up the appointment by late July 1987. The appointee will be directly responsible for the efficient mechanical maintenance and operation of the Forestry Division's vehicle fleet, plant and workshops. The appointee will be directly responsible to the Forestry Project Manager and will be expected to maintain close supervision of the Division's mechanical assets which will necessitate extensive travel within Samoa. The appointee is expected to coordinate the purchase of mechanical spare parts and workshop supplies, to hold stocks of frequently required parts and to coordinate bulk purchases. Applicants must have attained Advanced Trade Certificate in Automotive Engineering with a wide range of general experience including heavy equipment, trucks, petrol and diesel engines, and chainsaws. Applicants should have a minimum of 10 years, experience,in the trade in addition to a minimum of 5 years, supervisory experience.
