Drilling shows in well

PA Wellington Minor hydrocarbons were found in core 5 of the Kupe South No. 2 well, about 1.75 km north of the Kupe South No. 1 gas and condensate oil discovery, TCPL Resources, Ltd said yesterday. The core was cut over the interval 3178.1 m to 3197.8 m, with a 100 per cent recovery. At 6 a.m. yesterday the well had reached a depth of 3203 m and was drilling ahead to a revised total depth of 3250 m. The significance of the minor hydrocarbon indications in core 5 and previous cores would be evaluated by wireline logging at total depth. Well interests are: TCPL Resources 40 per cent, National Petroleum, New Zealand Oil and Gas, Ltd, Oilfields, NL, 30 per cent; Minister of Energy, 11 per cent; JFP (NZ) International, Ltd, 10 per cent; Alpha Petroleum, Ltd, 4.5 per cent; and Delta Petroleum, Ltd, 4.5 per cent.
