Product Education Group
Developing software would be unproductive without training support to make sure that it is quickly and smoothly brought into use. Training requires concise and relevant product documentation to support the user in the day to day use of the LINC software. The Product Education Group takes the students through the latest releases on LINC. The training is based on lectures and practical experience with students learning at terminals — learning by doing. The students learning at terminals — learning by doing. The students come to the centre from Australia, America, Japan, Britain and many other countries. They are senior staff who will pass on their knowledge to others. Training is also carried out with staff from selected sites where new releases of LINC are to be tested. These courses provide
the centre with valuable feedback. If a feature of the software can be improved for easier use, it will often be identified during the training courses. To reach the wide base of users, the Consultancy and Education Group documents features of the LINC software as it is designed and developed. This group provides training in how to develop LINC systems along with a consulting service world wide. Reference, operations and usage manuals are prepared for new and existing users anywhere in the world often where English is only a second language. Considerable skill is required to ensure that the manuals produced are technically accurate and yet still readable by the user. LINC provides a totally integrated system that encompasses either the whole or part of the organisation’s communica-
tions. LINC provides the capability for organisations to. develop fully integrated, on-line, real-time systems that have traditionally not been within their financial resources, technical capacity or comprehension. LINC provides the capacity for organisations to exploit fully their computing resource by means of advanced systems development. It creates programs optimised to take full advantage of the architecture of the host machine. The performance of a LINC . information system is usually considerably in excess of similar conventional dataprocessing systems. LINC’S RESPONSE TO CHANGE: The combination of open-ended specification and LINC generative capacity allows the user to modify the organisation’s information system rapidly to meet the dynamic requirements of the business world.
